Desk Report: A Dialogue was held demanding the right of potable water for the low-income people of Satkhira city.
Research organization BARCIK and Education Culture and Diversity Protection Team jointly organized this dialogue on Thursday (19 October) at Mangrove conference hall in Satkhira.
Speakers of the dialogue said that the water supplied by Satkhira municipality is not potable. After drinking municipality supplied water people are affected Stomach ache. Where life is stagnant without water, the low-income people of Satkhira are also forced to buy water. In this regard, if necessary action is not taken now, there will be no limit to the suffering in the lives of the low income people.
The speakers demanded to ensure safe water supply for the low income people of the city.
Mr. Azad Hossain Belal, convenor of Satkhira Zilla Nagorik Committee presided over the program while Kazi Firoj Hasan Mayor (in Charge) of Satkhira municipality spoke as the chief Guest.
Beside this, Abul Kalam Azad, member secretary of Satkhira Zilla Nagorik Committee, Principal Asek-e-Elahi Editor of Dakshiner Mosahal, Obaidus Sultan Bablu, President of Zilla Jasad, Madhab Chandra Dutto, Executive Director of Sadesh, Ahsan Razib, co-ordinator of Satkhira journalist center, Karno Biswas Kady, president of Prothom Alo Bandhushava, SM Habibul Hasan, President of Education Culture and Diversity Protection Team, Gazi Mahida Mizan, Assistant Program officer of BARCIK, Jahanara khatun resident of Boddipur colony, Asraf Ali resident of Sultanpur slum and Tamanna Sultana spoke the program.
In the dialogue Kazi Firoj Hasan Mayor (in Charge) of Satkhira municipality said that we are trying to deliver water to all areas of the municipality. Efforts are underway to solve the water problem of the municipality within the next three months.
